Story ー Moonlight Sonata: First Movement.
He was once a loyal knight, devoting his life for the King; for His Highness.
...or so.
Tenn was born as the only child of this average family. He had a bright, cheerful childhood with both parents showering him with love those poor children might be envied about. One would consider a 'prodigy', he is quite skilled with fine artsーmusical instruments especially piano and tends to play his melodies in public for free entertainment as others' smiles are enough to pay his sweats.
However, my dear,
Sometimes things don't go as planned.
ーHe found his parents died; being killed in a tragedy by other nation infiltrating VALIANT before his eyes. He feels like an useless kid for not being able to lend a hand, he regrets following his beloved mother's words to hide in a cabinet, only to hear both father and mother suffer, to let them experience the worst thing in life: death.
As if not getting over such tragedy of losing his dearest treasure, he made a bolt movement by joining the royal knights. The major reason is as simple as pouring some milk into a bowl of cereal:
❝ I want to repay His Majesty for his blessings and protection, hence I shall stand in the front line; defending him no matter what. And so I could prevent another tragedy from happening. ❞
And along with his new companions: Yaotome Gaku and Tsunashi Ryuunosuke, the three of them made their way to be promoted as an Elite force called REGALITY that works under the command of His Highness himself; whose loyalty does not need to be doubted.
Story ー Danse Macabre.
After his parents' death and the new achievements with REGALITY, Tenn spent a lot of his free time with the King as his personal bodyguard and got closer within a short period of time, being taught various important points about life which ended up into an unexpected piano lesson; something he will never refuse.
To live a life as royal knight was never easy. Expect the daily practices, continuous pain, and surpassing the fear of death itself. A deadly war march might have took his life if Gaku was not there creating a deal with the Goddess.
Tenn survived and made his return with a victory, but costing Gaku's eyesight in return.
...where victory does not feel like a victory.
Story ー Clair de Lune.
❛ Tenn, I am sure you are familiar with this piece. ❜
ーClair de Lune, Tenn muttered to himself, watching those shaking yet skillful fingers forming ethereal melodies through piano notes. He does not know the reason why, but one thing for sureーthat piece is His Highness's favorite; something he would play during a free time, or one of those sleepless nights while glancing at the moon through his window until Ryuu came with a glass of warm milk. Tenn received the full-coursed lesson of Clair de Lune from His Highness, too, even though he did not ask to be taught the piece.
It WAS his favorite; not only Tenn, but Gaku and Ryuu know this as well.
❛ I consider the three of you as my own sons; I do appreciate all the devotion and loyalty for our kingdom. My time is not much, soー ❜
Tenn's eyes widened, thus praying to the Goddess in hope he could exchange something of his for the King's well-being, but was stopped. Neither of them could believe his next words:
❛ One shall ascend the throne, and continue my legacy; I want it to be Tenn. ❜
His last words.
Tenn will never play Clair de Lune ever again; not even on His Highness' funeral.
Story ー Nocturne No. 1 in B-Flat Minor, Op. 9, No. 1.
❛ Tenn was quiet the whole time. ❜
❛ What was His Majesty think about for choosing him? ❜
❛ My dear, he is not even a noble. I am concerned. ❜
...and some more they talked about to each other, sending anger deep to his heart. Tenn did not ask for the throne, anyway. Does not matter how close he is with the King, no matter how many memories they gather togetherーbeing given something so luxurious would immediately hit his shoulders as heaviest burden to carry.
And again, he DID not wish to inherit the throne. What was His Majesty thinking? Good question.
❝ Divide the Kingdom into three regions, I want Gaku and Ryuu to rule along. ❞
One command that managed to surprise everyone in that roomーboth his companions were no exception. He managed to climb this high with their help; Ryuu with his usual brotherly advices, and Gaku sacrificing his eyesight.
One night before the Coronation Day; Tenn did say that three Kings can do the better and stable estabilishment, but who knows the true reason behind this?
Story ー Mass in C, K. 317 "Coronation": 2. Gloria.
Keep his name as thy psalm
Oh disciple, may his spirit live on
in thy words of remembrance.
Keep his name as thy shield,
Dear son, that it might yield
thy salvation in the midst of the fray.
Keep his name as thy breathe,
Sweet lover, and stay the death
by thy own hand that thou longest for.
ー His Valediction.
He ascended;
Stepping into the palace hall with pride and one desire.
Not by himself, yet being accompanied by his two trusted allies. The Goddess presented each them Sword of VARIANT and may those bring peace onto the land, salvation and prosperity.
The royal crown be damned, it would be better to keep his head light without such accessory.
❝ Address me as Kujou Tenn; the King of Northern VALIANT! ❞
